Center of the Universe….
Ever since I was a boy of 10….visiting New York City with my Dad (a New Yorker — The Bronx — by birth) for the 1964 New York World’s Fair….Rockefeller Center has been my own Center of the Universe — my orientation point — amidst this huge, complex and dynamic city.
And each time I return to New York City, I end up spending quality time in Rockefeller Center….pausing to consider which part of the city to explore next…..and marveling at the towers, gardens, statues, art, people and life coalescing there.
This photo is the most unique perspective I’ve yet seen of this famous plaza in the center of Midtown Manhattan. That’s the Statue of Atlas in the center of the photo….depicting the Ancient Greek mythological titan Atlas holding the heavens.
